Standardization

Standardization's purpose is to give technical and commercial solution reference documents for products and service problems, which arise repeatedly between economic, scientific, technical and social partners " french decree 84-74 of 26/01/1984.

The implementation of these normative texts is not compulsory, except when a national or EU regulation explicitly refers to one for one or several normative documents. It is necessary to underline the case of the Harmonized Standards which clarify conditions of applications of some European directives.

Although product concerns are partly treated in the ISO 14001 standard, there is not presently an international standard dedicated to the ecodesign. But what we must say is that there is now a technical committee (TC 207) in charge of this subject The only text treating ecodesign specifically is the AFNOR fascicle FD X30-310 of 1998 " Taking into account the environmental concerns during the product design stage".

The relevant standards dealing with design methodologies are the following:

The NF X 50-153: Value Analysis
