Certification
The certification is the check and the validation
by an independent and accredited body of the conformity of a product
or an organization to the requirements defined by a system of reference. Companies
undertake a certification either from their own initiative or from market's
pressure.
Among certifications in France we can quote the NF mark managed and issued by AFNOR or the ISO 9000 certification for Quality management.
In environmental product certification,
there are two official labels in France:

There are other Europeans environmental labels such as
the Blue Angel in Germany,
the Swan for the Scandinavian countries.
European eco-label is established according to the council regulation n°880-92 on the 02.03.1992.
This Regulation intend to:
- promote the design, production, marketing and use of products which have a reduced environmental impact during their entire life cycle, and- provide consumers with better information on the environmental impact of products, without, however, compromising product or workers' safety or significantly affecting the properties which make a product fit for use.
