Environmental analysis

During this stage we carry out an
Abridged and Qualitative Life cycle Assessment
.

The purpose is to identify the sources of environmental impact due to the product and to give objectives of improvement according to the abilities of the company. It is necessary to clarify that it is the team, which determines these objectives.

Assessment is based on a questionnaire, treating 6 subjects relative to the ecofriendly design product:

  1. Usefulness and use of the product
  2. Durability of the product
  3. Pollution, risks, nuisances and waste of production
  4. Pollution, risks and nuisances for the use and the end of life stages
  5. Recycled and easily recyclable character
  6. Availability of resources.

Each question refers to a criterion (usefulness, good design, energy saver, modular product, nuisances occurred during the manufacture, the use or the end of life step, etc.). So for every question the team positions the product as "good", "medium" or "bad" according to the criterion.

From answers, the participants will be able to determine and to organize into a hierarchy objectives to improve the environmental performance of the product.

As the assessment has been carried out, one determines the ecological score of the product. Scores can take values between 0 (optimal case) and 99 (the worst result). It is necessary to keep in mind that the score doesn't matter, in fact it's the change that will occur in the future that is interesting. The first score is just a reference.
